L'acide 3-O-éthyl ascorbique peut constituer un bon ingrédient blanchissant pour les cosmétiques. Cependant, avant de pouvoir être utilisé avec succès en cosmétique, sa biofonctionnalité et sa stabilité doivent être examinées de manière exhaustive. La réduction et la capacité de piégeage des radicaux libres du 2,2-diphényl-1-picrylhydrazyle (DPPH) de ce composé ont été analysées pour évaluer son potentiel antioxydant. De plus, la capacité d'inhibition de la tyrosinase a été analysée pour montrer la capacité de blanchiment de l'acide 3-O-éthyl ascorbique. La méthodologie de surface de réponse (RSM) a été utilisée pour déterminer les conditions optimales pour le dérivé d’acide ascorbique en cosmétique.
