Le 2-glucoside d'acide palmitoylascorbique a le potentiel de protéger les cellules de mammifère contre le rayonnement d'ions carbone à LET élevé.

Le DMSO, le glycérol et l’acide ascorbique (AA) sont utilisés dans les produits pharmaceutiques et ont des effets radioprotecteurs connus. La présente étude examine les propriétés radioprotectrices du nouveau glycéryl glucoside, du 2-glucoside de l'acide ascorbique, du glycérylascorbate et du 2-glucoside de l'acide palmitoyle-ascorbique (PA). Des rayons gamma ou des ions carbone à LET élevé ont été irradiés en présence de produits chimiques testés. Les dommages de l'ADN lambda, la survie cellulaire et la formation de micronoyaux de cellules CHO ont été analysés pour évaluer les propriétés radioprotectrices. Les dommages causés à l'ADN lambda induit par les rayonnements ont été réduits grâce au prétraitement chimique en fonction de la concentration. Ces produits chimiques testés confirmés étaient des capteurs de radicaux. Pour l'irradiation gamma, une survie accrue des cellules et une réduction de la formation de micronoyaux ont été observées pour tous les produits chimiques. Pour l'irradiation par les ions carbone, le DMSO, le glycérol et l'AP ont montré une radioprotection pour la survie cellulaire. Sur la base des courbes de survie cellulaire, les niveaux de protection par l'AP ont été confirmés et comparables entre les rayons gamma et les ions carbone à LET élevé. La formation de micronoyaux n'a été diminuée qu'avec l'AA et une concentration élevée de traitement au glycérol, et non diminuée avec le traitement au PA. Cela suggère que les mécanismes de protection contre les ions carbone à LET élevé par l'AP peuvent différer des effets de piégeage des radicaux qui protègent l'ADN des dommages.
