Effet de l'acétate d'alpha-tocophérol et de l'acide ascorbique sur les performances, les caractéristiques de la carcasse ainsi que l'incidence et la gravité des abcès du foie chez les bovins d'engraissement.

Les abcès du foie chez les bovins ont un impact négatif sur les performances des parcs d'engraissement en diminuant l'ADG, la consommation alimentaire et le rapport G / F. Les foies abcès sont condamnés et les adhérences abdominales associées à l'AL peuvent entraîner une importante taille de la carcasse pendant la récolte, aggravant ainsi l'impact économique défavorable. Compte tenu des modifications réglementaires relatives à l'utilisation d'antibiotiques dans l'alimentation animale dans la production de bovins, il existe un intérêt croissant pour les alternatives aux antibiotiques pour le contrôle de l'AL. L’objectif de cette étude était d’évaluer l’utilisation d’antioxydants, d’ascorbate cristallin et d’acétate d’alpha-tocophérol, pour atténuer l’AL chez les bovins en parc d’engraissement. Les génisses d'un an croisées (n = 392; poids initial initial de 481 ± 9,4 kg) ont été bloquées par le traitement précédent et attribuées au hasard à 24 enclos d'engraissement (10 mx 35 m) avec 14 génisses / enclos. Les génisses ont été pesées, implantées avec des implants Component (R) TE-200 et placées dans des enclos d'alimentation. Les aliments de finition consistaient en 60% de maïs floconné à la vapeur, 30% de gluten de maïs humide, 8% de luzerne et 2% de supplément (base DM) fournissant 300 mg / j de monensin et 200 UI / j d'acétate d'alpha-tocophérol (CTL). ou 2000 UI / j d'acétate d'alpha-tocophérol plus 500 mg / j d'ascorbate cristallin (AOX). Les génisses ont été nourries une fois par jour, à volonté, pendant 94 jours, puis pesées et transportées sur une distance de 450 km vers un abattoir commercial pour la récolte. Le poids de la carcasse chaude et l'incidence / la gravité de l'AL ont été déterminés le jour de la récolte et les caractéristiques de la carcasse ont été évaluées après 36 h de réfrigération. Par rapport aux CTL, l’alimentation en AOX avait tendance à diminuer la DMI (10,66 vs 10,31 kg / j; P = 0,08) et à améliorer le rapport G: F (0,1204 contre 0,1254; P = 0,12), mais n’a pas d’incidence sur l’ADG, l’incidence de LA vs 23,5% pour CTL et AOX, respectivement), HCW (828,4 vs 830,5 kg pour CTL et AOX, respectivement), ou d’autres traits de carcasse (P> 0,20). En conclusion, l'alimentation en antioxydants n'est pas une alternative viable pour réduire l'incidence des abcès du foie chez les bovins en phase de finition.
